Keating can defend, he works hard and makes alot of tackles. However the problem is he cant attack for shit. If only we had space for Farrah.. I'd take him any day.
I'll go on record now and say I think Matt Keating will be the big improved of 2012. I actually don't think there's a lot if improvement he needs to start getting noticed. I've got some mates who follow other teams and hate Parra who say they think he's fine now, competent hooker. I reckon with a more dominant half he'll start to feed the ball a bit quicker, just that half a second and he'll start to look a whole lot better.
I'll go on record and say he will continue to be the weak link in Parra's attack and during the 2012 season we will see a new hooker from the lower grades get a chance to shine.
No jabby no offense meant by this but Matt keatings defence is fine. I think his problem is structure. A lot of times I notice the ball played and he's still looking back to see who to pass to. He's probably looking to see if Jarryd wants the ball or not and we all know Jarryd likes to chime in play off the cuff etc. I think Matt needs to have the confidence to give quick service to where he thinks the attack should go based on what he sees and the gameplan, and with a more dominant half I'm hoping that will improve. Otherwise he may be looking over his shoulder at a few blokes who might step in. My call is I reckon he will improve.
Jabby with all due respect you're watching a different player if you think Matt can't defend. He's about the best defensive hooker in the competition and the cleaning up he does around the ruck is particularly undervalued.
Without question this year is going to be Matt's big year. As Normo says probably for the first time in his life he'll have a dominant number seven to play with, who is going to do a lot more of the organising and will be directing the play. That's going to make Matt's job a lot easier and he can focus on doing the things he does well.
The reality is that the best hookers in our game are in their late twenties. You only have to look at how a player like Matt Ballin's game has really developed over the past couple of years. Matt is now hitting that same age bracket where hookers really come into their prime. It's up to him now, to take the very substantial experience he's been lucky enough to get at a relatively early stage in his career and become the type of players that comes into calculations with the rep-selectors.
"You still haven't answered the question I've asked multiple times. If he is such an obvious future representative superstar, why wasn't there a bidding war for him? Why was it Perth, an expansion club building a roster from scratch, offering more…"
"Shed is progressing nicely. Have fastened the frame, laid the geotextile cover and started with the gravel. Soon thereafter, the paving sand followed by the 65 x 6 5 pavers. I am most excited about this. Live is good. "

Would be a massive achievement for Jason Seage to get a gig in 1sts after being away from the game and club for 2 seasons.
Coaching staff must have massive wraps on him

His attacking is okay and when his in support but he cant kick, or defend.. we need a hooker that can do all not just 1 thing.
